Permission to travel light

October 20, 2013

permission

Do you ever have expensive camera guilt? I bought it now I should really use all the time?  It used to bother me more, but now I have no problem leaving that big boy at home and shooting everything iPhone.

It’s a lot of trouble to haul around the big camera when you are also trying to keep up with four kids in a crowd, eat cotton candy and ride rides. This weekend I opted to shoot only with my iPhone while our family enjoyed the Arkansas State Fair. I even managed to get some creative pictures that made me happy with my iPhone and some of my favorite editing apps.

We had a great time and I may have left with a headache, but it wasn’t because of the extra strain of carrying a heavy camera and big lens. I blame it on the noise and smells.

If I had been traveling alone with the sole purpose of getting great shots of the fair I would have loved having my big camera and a few lenses, but my goal was to enjoy the day with my family and that was accomplished much better with the iPhone camera.

Have you ever been glad you left the big camera at home?
