My family portrait time

November 13, 2013

fpd

Every single year for as long as I can remember I’ve made my family do our own portrait session for our Christmas card photo. They expect it. I anticipate it. It should be routine, familiar, a fun family event.

If you think that’s how it is, you couldn’t be more wrong. Even though they know it’s coming, there’s till angst, woe, and agony on the day of the shoot. There was only one happy participant this year and she had some fun with the clicker before we got started.

I wrote a couple of posts on how to take your own family portraits, (preparing and what to wear) but trust me, doing it yourself is not always the way to go. It seems to get harder for me every year instead of easier.

It was a beautiful fall day with great temperatures. The colors looked fabulous and I thought we better grab this day before the cold set in. And while we’re at it, why not include the dogs? Family pictures with dogs are always so much fun!

Um, how did I forget that dogs spend a lot of time fighting each other, rolling on the ground, and scratching their butts?

Now the question is, will I make them do it again? (shhhh, don’t even tell them I’m considering it.)

I put a couple of the decent ones on my about page if you’re interested.
