Jon Acuff posted a quote from Picasso about inspiration this week. See it here. He said, “Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.”
As I thought about that quote I thought about the times the best ideas have come to me. They come when I’m driving or walking the dogs. Times of solitude when my body is going through the motions of something, but my mind is busy elsewhere.
Inspiration I found this week:
1. My annual family photo book from My Publisher arrived. I wrote more details about how I did it over here. We love getting this in the mail and looking through our adventures from the past year. This is my second year to make our family album and I love having it (even though making it is hard work). It always inspires me to capture many moments from our everyday family life. I hope it will inspire you to do the same.
2. Words on the web: Artists and Influencers by Emily Freeman and the one she linked to: How to Love your Independent Artist by Christa Wells.
I love her words here:
“…we long be free as artists to illustrate or reflect the whole of life, because the whole of life belongs to the Father. And our “small stories”…aren’t they merely reflections of the “Great Story”?”
3. I find so much inspiration from being outside, but in the winter, especially in the winter, I let the weather keep me indoors too many days. This week I challenged myself to stand in one small area and take as many different and interesting pictures as I could of nature. I loved what I found.
The challenge forced me to really look around, look up, get down lower, see things differently. And sometimes we need a different perspective in our life.
There’s a lot of beauty to be found in winter and it would be a shame to not see it.
How were you inspired this week?
