Last year it was fireworks, this year I decided to focus on getting some fabulous silhouette shots. Both years I entered my favorite shots in our local fair and both years I won best of show! Which was a complete surprise (both times) because I’m not a winner. In fact, I’m typically an underachiever in almost every area.
But focusing on one new technique and learning everything I can about it is something fun for me.
My kids always enter art and sewing projects in the fair and almost always win first place ribbons. This year I let the three year old enter one of her paintings. She came home with a first place ribbon and you have never seen someone more delighted in their work. She explains every detail of that painting to anyone who will listen. There’s a shark, and a storm, and a small spot of yellow right there where she messed up (we can always easily spot our mistakes, can’t we, even at three).
I think we should always take time to create art.
