How we use oils

October 3, 2019

There are three ways you can use Young Living Essential oils.

1. Aromatically:You can smell from the bottle, put in your hands, or diffuse! When inhaling, it takes 22 seconds for an oil to reach the brain.

The only way to reach limbic system is through smell, which is why oils are such a great option for those for those needing emotional support and support for their nervous system. Diffusing purifies the air, makes your home smell good without chemicals, is great for easy breathing and support for the whole family.

We have diffusers all through the house because we diffuse a lot!

2. Topically:Because of their molecular structure, essential oils are rapidly absorbed by the skin. Sometimes when you apply an oil to the skin, it almost seems to disappear into the body. When applied topically, it takes 2-3 seconds for an oil to reach the bloodstream, 20 minutes to affect every cell in the body, then the oils are metabolized within 2 ½ hours. Most kids pick up on oil use very quickly and love filling their own diffusers or apply oils themselves.

Some oils are “hot” oils and need a fatty carrier like coconut oil before they are applied to the skin.

Just apply oils to the area where you need them. Some of our favorite places are wrists, diffuser bracelets, behind the ears, neck, temples, stomach or especially feet.

If you ever get essential oil in your eye, do not rinse with water. That will drive the oil in. Instead, apply a fatty oil (coconut oil, olive oil, Young Living’s V-6 oil, etc.) around the eye area for relief.

3. Internally:We love to use essential oils as supplements. The vitality oils are specifically labeled as such although they are the same oils that are in topical/aromatic labeled bottles. You can use essential oils in your stainless steel water bottle, beverages, cooking, baking, or in capsules.

Be sure not to use plastic cups or water bottles when you use citrus oils. They digest petrochemicals and you don’t want plastic leaching into your water.

What to avoid: do not put oils in your ears or eyes and avoid using any citrus oils and then exposing that skin to the sun.
