Tiny Tip Tuesday | Low light | Melissa Stover Photography

February 4, 2014

photo tips

On camera flash can make a photo look washed out, your subject’s eyes spooky, or alter the colors. I always turn off my flash on my camera and on my iPhone when taking indoor photos.

So, how can you capture beautiful indoor photos without a flash?

1. Use available light. Sometimes it’s as simple as moving closer to a window or turning on a light.

2. If possible, raise your ISO. If you know how to adjust your ISO on your camera, raising it to 800 or higher will allow your camera to let in more light.

3. Use a tripod or brace your camera or phone to keep it as still as possible. (Any movement in a low light situation can make your image blur).

Try this tiny tip next time you take an indoor photo.
